At the risk of sounding completely cliche, how on earth is it already December?? Where did the year go?

It seems every year at this time I am plunged into the holidays, whether I am ready or not, by decorating the homes of my clients for Christmas. It can be no small task to deck out a 10,000 square foot house (and it’s grounds) in festive decor, and I’ve racked up quite a few such projects in Christmases past. In fact I’m writing this post from the home of some clients (and also dear friends) in Jackson, TN where I just finished prepping for the holidays yesterday.

I thought it would be fun to collect some of the various images of holiday decor I’ve helped create over the past few years. Many of the images graciously come from my former employer Tracery’s blog — where I spent many fun Christmas seasons sometimes working for two or three weeks straight decking out client homes all over the Southeast. Hannon and I are thankfully not nearly as inundated with holiday decor this year, and are taking it simple with the decor in our own homes too.

I always contend that simple, natural decor is best. And for goodness sake no bright red velvet bows! I was quoted recently in Birmingham Home & Garden eschewing traditional red and green and opting for white and green florals and Limelight hydrangea. I find there’s a freshness in such combinations that’s refreshing and vibrant.

In 2010, the blog Simply Seleta featured my home. The image of the wool scarf wrapped around my vintage arm chair is still one of my favorites! There’s still a sap stain on the ceiling of my living room from that tabletop tree too!

A little something from my decor for this year…it might be as far as I get this holiday season!
